Maxibuch

I posted the picture above already yesterday: Me cutting a gigantic book block to size. Well, it's gigantic compared to other books I usually make. In the end it measures now: 48cm x 35 cm and has 144 pages. In the picture below I am preparing to make the case.
Since I didn't have a press big enough for that book I put it under some volumes of the encyclopedia Brockhaus. Can you see the book at all? It is bound in a fine brown cloth. On the spine (and actually also the covers) it is decorated with a strip of the paper that I used as endpapers, too. Here you have a look at the interior pages:
I finish off with showing you some more pictures of the finished book. In one of the photos you see some older books by me, so that you can judge the difference in size between this book and those I usually make. Have fun and thanks for reading!

What a superb book, well done

I bet that felt a bit odd working on such a large scale after lots of little books.

Great work

Thanks, Billie!

Yes, it felt odd! After so many small books I explicitly wanted to make one that's large.
I overdid it a bit, though, and I was surprise how many difficulties this project posed: Not only did I have to find new solutions to old problems (like where to press it) but also had some new problems (how to glue this huge area without part of it drying already). I am quite proud that it came out all right.

At first I wanted to sell it. But it gave me heartache each of the three times I started to put it up in my shop. So I finally decided to keep it for myself.
